I have a 06 HO Vengenance, and I am a 15 off 30-32 mph skier. The ski feels slow to respond and turn, slow to go from edge to edge. Like im always ahead of the ski.
Now, if I speed up the boat to 34-36 it seems nice and fast.
I heard a lot that I should remove the wing. I am looking for professional advice on that and some settings for the fin.
thank you very much,
Jason

not sure on the fin settings though. Someone got some numbers they can share for this model?

Thank you Wade.
So basically I should take the wing off till I get into shorter line and faster speed?
anyone who has some fin numbers would be great! Thank you
Jason
I'll be seeing an HO dealer over Thanksgiving, I should be able to take a look in his big binder of ski settings.
Don't be afraid to take the wing off. Getting it back to where it was is not particularly involved.
In the mean time could you post your current numbers?
I will try to get some numbers for you.
That would be great if you can get some settings! thank you!
I'm sorry, we looked around the workshop and found absolutely bubkis. We could
not find the binder that had his numbers on triumphs. Currently, the Triumph has a
block that can only be moved 1/4" forward or back, so the HO site will be minimally helpful.
You might want to consider contacting HO directly, or maybe calling Wileyski.com
thank you HO 410 for your attempt to help. It certainly means a lot. How everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
I will try to get some base numbers and get a hold of wileys.
thank you again, and I will post back with my numbers!
I'm trying to think why you're ski would perform comfortably at 34-36 but would feel sluggish at 30-32. What size is your ski and how big are you? I'm wondering if the extra speed changes the planing angle, keeping the tail up and tip down. Conversely when you go slower the tail sinks and the tip rises: more plow than ski. Moving your boots up a hole might balance the turns better for the slower speed.
Thank you HO 410 for continuing to help!
I am 5'9" 180 lbs on a 67". Left foot forward

the speed issue might have to due with my form. what do you guys think?
When you are going slower, it's easier to fall back on the ski. You may be doing this when you ski faster, but the extra speed gives you enough support so that the ski wont sink. When the tail goes down and the tip comes up, you load up the ski so that it is not free to turn. You also slow down even more so that the turn will stall and you'll have to muscle yourself out of a hole just to keep skiing.
Anyone that runs an opening pass that is slower than their max speed (i.e. *this guy*) will tell you that they have to be more careful on their opener than their second pass. Because of that very issue above, it's easier to fall back on the ski and have a bad turn and take zero momentum to the next buoy. At tournaments, I see more people miss 32mph openers than -15' @36 or -22' @ 34 (depending on age)
makes perfect sense! thank you. I really need to work on my form. I think I am going to try to save up after Christmas and do a lesson.
I hope you have a great holiday HO410!
