Re: What size rs1 for me?

You can run either a 66 or 67 but I would guess that at 34 and 28off, I would suggest starting with a 67.  I would suggest running my recommended settings.  Post your results!

Re: What size rs1 for me?

Thanks for your help this is very cool to get first hand advice from a world class skier. I will set it up according to your #'s.
On another note i understand you spend winters in Alta?? I grew up skiing Alta and was on the Snowbird race team for three seasons (All 4 Alpine event: Downhill and Super G were my strongest events) .I also spent some time skiing backcountry (alpine gear only). I would like to ski with you this winter if possible i have a lot of history there.

Thanks i will report results on Friday.

Re: What size rs1 for me?

First note this is only my second season of skiing the course. This is the report after 22 passes ran yesterday. No PB. i never got into 32 off.

First off i have skied my Monza for two full seasons and have not been on another ski until yesterday. I think i was conservative on this ski and we all know conservative skiing doesnt get you far in this sport. The ski was porpusing on my offside so we took some tip out and solved that problem. Also on offside i noticed when i was trying to jam the turn the ski wanted to stop and break me at the hips,  i had a hard time getting it to turn on my offside, i couldnt find the sweet spot on that side (Tuning????).

Positive points of the ski are the speed it will generate behind the boat, and i thought it carried and maintained direction well after the second wake, my onside was good all day. I think tuning and two more days of skiing and i would have a better report and possible make a purchase.

I will give this ski another try.

Re: What size rs1 for me?

MC,
What is the distance from the tail of the ski to your rear heel?  Also, are you running the rs1's close together or is there a space between the boots?  If you are breaking at the waist, you still have too much tip pressure.  Answer the above questions and let me know where your fin and wing are set to and we can work it out.

Re: What size rs1 for me?

Rossi,
Distance is 17" from tail to rear heel, Boots are tight together size 9's. Fin is 2.505, 6.735, .76, with 9 degrees on the wing.

Thanks MC

Re: What size rs1 for me?

Can you measure the length of your fin with the tips of the caliper as shown in the definitive fin measuring article?

Re: What size rs1 for me?

Rossi,
I returned the ski. At $30.00 a day for the demo and only having 30 days to make a purchase in order to get any demo costs credited toward the purchase of a new ski i didnt hold onto the ski very long. However they might let me take it again if i explain some of the set up issues i had.
Those measurements were using the tips of the calipers. I started with your suggested measurments from this website for a 67" RS1. I had the porpus problem while in the turn and took .100 out of the tip of the fin. That solved the porpusing problem. I know that made the Fin Depth less than 2.505 but not sure exactly, i took no measurement of Depth. Maybe i took too much tip out of the fin which made the offside hard to turn???

Re: What size rs1 for me?

Correction how about we removed .010 from the tip of the fin. So we went from 6.835 to 6.825.

Re: What size rs1 for me?

OK this is the final correction Sorry. We removed .020 out of the tip of the fin to give us 6.815.

Re: What size rs1 for me?

MC,
The lack of length is probably why the ski did not like to turn on the off side.

17 1/8
2.505
6.835
0.770
9 degrees
