Gate Edge out

Chris, should one also push the handle down during the gate edge out?

jan,when i pull out for the gates i let the handle out with a progressive lean away making sure i have a slight lean in the direction i'm traveling to keep my center of mass over the center of the ski.if you let the handle out without these other components you will end up on the back of the ski causing the ski to track side to side out of control.i dont think pushing the handle down is correct but letting it out is.

Jan,
     I start in a very tall position.   Then simultaneously push the handle down AND fall away from the side of my ski.
