Radar Rail Boots vs D3 High Wraps

Wade/Chris

I was hoping you guys could point in the right direction. I bought my D3 Nomad RCX 68” last year and skied it with the standard D3 high wrap in the front and a loop in the back. I was consistently making my 22’s at 34 and half my 28’s so pretty good for me.  This year I mounted the radar rail front boot and the rear toe loop on the radar plate.  I love the comfort and the feel of the bindings especially the toe loop because of its wide fit it allows me to get in the same every time.  The problems is I am not stable on the ski and my off side turn is nonexistent.  I am breaking at the waist every time.  My theory is that because of the low profile and the elastic lace I have to change my body position too much to get enough weight forward to make the ski turn.  I put my old bindings back on and I am skiing better and I am more stable and I feel the ski. The problem with it though so far is the toe loop is so difficult to get into and feels so completely foreign that I am thinking about it too much. I did  play with the positioning and at one point I moved the bindings all the way forward to try to help but still not responding well.   Have you guys had any feedback on the combination from anyone else?  Do you think the RS-1 front boot would help create more forward leverage on the ski?  Am I losing connection with the ski because of the thickness of the pads and the fact that the plate floats?  Is it just a back fit?  Thank you very much for your help.

Re: Radar Rail Boots vs D3 High Wraps

Give the Bennetts pro-shop a call just buy one. They are having a major clearance.
At the price they are giving, it is quite safe to just try first and ask questions later.

I know that when I was skiing Wiley's, I was able to stand pretty tall through the turn.
Testing just about any of the newer designs (approach, draft, or RS-1) there is a forward
cant that keeps you from standing up to far. With that forward cant it's more important to
counter through the turn (at least that's what I was feeling), if you don't you'll end up squatting
on the tail a bit or a bunch and you won't get the turn that you are looking for.

Even then. It's all about what works first, comfort second. Take heart, there should
be some way to mount the radar toe loop to something other than the sequence plate.
So I wouldn't get to married to the idea of a Radar boot if you can't make it work.
